.2nd dr appt - unintended ultrasound.

My 2nd Dr. appt was on 3.16.07 which wasn't intended to include an ultrasound, but we had a little scare...

This appt. is suppose to be an appt with the Dr. and a Doppler (a device used to listen to the heart beat). As the nurse started to roll the Doppler around on my stomach...no heartbeat was heard! After sometime went by (about 10 min) and the nurse had a strange look, but was reassuring me not to get worried, there still wasn't a sound. She decided to bring another nurse in and another Doppler, but no luck! At that time, my heart started racing and I was definitely thinking the worst. So Dr. Feldman came in and asked me a few questions... like "do you feel pregnant?" What kind of question is that?! I started thinking back to all my symptoms or should I say lack of symptoms and how I wasn't getting sick anymore or even feeling sick and I was having strange pains in my back...Needless to say, I had no idea what I was feeling.

So He gave me an exam and said with assurance that my uterus was the size it should have been at 12 weeks and wanted to schedule an ultrasound, but first he was going to check with the Doppler...after a few minutes.... A HEARTBEAT! Ahh, it was like hearing heaven's angels sing!

I still wasn't assured so I asked to get an ultrasound regardless. As soon as the tech put the device on my stomach all the questions were answered... our little angel was bouncing off the walls inside me and wouldn't lay still for the poor nurses to find the heartbeat!!

The heart had a strong beat at 172bpm....

..12 weeks prego..

As much as I dislike taking pictures, this is another obstacle I must overcome during my pregnancy. I absolutely regret NOT taking any pictures of myself when I was pregnant with the girls.

With saying that, here is my first picture at 12 weeks pregnant.

..1st ultrasound..

I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and 4 days on 2.16.07. For some reason, when you are pregnant you always refer to your gestation in 'weeks' instead of months so I apologize if it take you a few minutes to do the math...

I was very surprised at this ultrasound considering my first one with the girls was at 12 weeks, this time around I could only see something that resembled a peanut, no arms and no legs, just a head and a body! Although I did see the heart and the heart was beating at 181bpm! The baby measured in at 14.2mm from crown to rump and apparently that is longer than average.

At the end of the appt. I was very pleased to first, confirm I was pregnant and second to see that the heart was beating and growing perfectly!

.we're pregnant.

After 4 months of trying to conceive, we found out we are expecting on 1.22.07 (the day before my 28th birthday)! For some reason, I was convinced that I was NOT pregnant this month so I was hesitant to take the test. I put it off for a couple hours and then figured I had nothing to lose, so I took the test....alone.... and sure enough it was POSITIVE!

Dave was still at work when I found out so I put the test in an envelope with a note and wrote his name on the front and put the envelope on our mailbox. When he got home he opened it and was completely surprised and so happy he picked me up and gave me a huge hug and kiss.

I think the girls were more excited than anyone when we told them. They started kissing and hugging my stomach immediately and kept reminding me that auntie leila and auntie nicole had babies in they tummy also.

It really was a great day!

.diary.

So after much procrastination, I have created an online diary of my 2nd pregnancy. I decided to do this because I regret that I didn't keep a diary of my pregnancy with the girls.
I would love to share as much as I can with our family and friends that my mind will allow me to remember, so please bare with me as I tend to 'forget' details lately. ;)
